New Web vehicles and tools are creating different ways of pushing and pulling news content, and producing thinner print publications. Digital news is now portable via pagers, cellphones and PDAs. The role of the press release has changed with the use of SEO (search engine optimization), podcasting, and RSS (Really Simple Syndication). How are companies and editors impacted by these changes? Are editors no longer acting as the primary gatekeepers and disseminators of information or are they still powerful as opinion leaders and spokespeople?
